Paint on canvas | Abstract Landscape
A large, immersive painting in which the viewer is invited to look downward into a world of turquoise, cerulean, and viridian green, as though gazing into the depths of a woodland pool or the surface of a tropical lagoon seen from above. The entire canvas is covered with short, rhythmic brushstrokes that flow and eddy in organic, circular patterns, creating a sense of gentle, continuous movement across the surface. The centre opens into a lighter, clearer blue — the heart of the pool where the water is deepest and most transparent — while the periphery darkens into richer greens where vegetation crowds the margins. Small clusters of gold, white, and ochre scattered across the surface suggest floating leaves, reflected light, or lily pads glimpsed through dappled shade. The painting’s scale and enveloping quality invite a meditative, almost hypnotic response, recalling Monet’s great water lily paintings at the Orangerie in their ambition to create an environment of colour and reflected light rather than merely to depict one. A painting to lose oneself in.
